About Us

The NZBS is not a bricks and mortar type of organization, i.e. we don’t have clubrooms or a national office. The NZBS is run by an executive committee that is voted into office by the membership at it’s Annual General Meeting which is held at our Annual Tournament. The members of this committee are usually resident in the North Island and travel to monthly meeting to organize the Society’s activities. In addition to this we have Area Vice Presidents which act as a contact point for existing members and prospective members. In some areas there may be a local bowhunting club operating, these clubs form where a group of bowhunters usually NZBS members join together to organize hunts and set up target courses.

The Society can be contacted by writing to the Administration Officer.

How do we keep in touch with our members ?

Society activities are published along with members contributions and achievements in the New Zealand Bowhunter Magazine. The NZ Bowhunter Magazine is published quarterly by the Society for its members. The Annual Tournament is the highlight of our calendar. This is where we get together, usually in a different location every year, to shoot a field course, award trophies and renew friendships. In addition the Society organizes hunts on a regular basis for it’s members, this is a good way for new members to meet other Society hunters.

The Society also runs the WORLD KOI CARP CLASSIC bowfishing tournament. This is run on an annual basis and bowhunters from all over New Zealand and overseas come together to bow fish Koi Carp in the Waikato River system. These and other events are designed for the social side to play an important part in the activities, this has lead to a very close knit organization. The NZBS is very family orientated and new comers are most welcome.
